Gabrielle Bonheur

1 – She was born in 1883 and grew up very poor.

2 – Her father abandoned her at an orphanage where she spent 6 years with her sister.

3 – During her adolescence years she worked singing and dancing in taverns at night.

4 – Losing that job, and having no place to live or how to survive, she became the mistress of a rich British military industrialist.

Still, she proved to the world that empty pockets don’t hold back anyone and that if nothing changed there would be no caterpillars… and that a rich person is nothing more than a poor person with money.

In the world of fashion, Gabrielle Bonheur, best known as Coco Chanel, is among the 100 most influential people in humanity.

According to her, “everything is in our head, that’s why we can not lose it.”

Also, according to her own words:

1 – Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it isn’t luxury.

2 – Fashion fades, only style stays the same.

3 – Luxury is the absence of vulgarity.

4 – Fashion that does not reach the streets, is not fashion.

5 – The nature gives you a face of 20, but the merit of appearance at 50 is all yours.

6 – The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.

7 – There are people who have money and people who are rich.

8 – To be irreplaceable, we must be different.

She not only took the corset away from the woman’s wardrobe, exchanging it for elegance and comfort, but she also gave much more besides the wonderful, always useful little black dress, the suit, the hat and Chanel 5 perfume.

She is one of those which I really take off my hat to.

So, the movie that I recommend for this day: that of someone who went beyond the poverty, abandonment, and challenged conventional society, to become the most famous designer of the twentieth century.
