The Biggest in the World!

Yes, here in Houston, since 1931, this time of year the largest rodeo in the world happens! The “Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo”

With it comes also the world’s largest livestock exhibition, the largest barbecue competition world, and all this from now until the 21st, with the big names in country music and all kinds of celebrities.

There is so much variety, which brings a huge crowd of tastes and attractions.

The annual event lasts for 20 days, beginning with a “Stop” downtown…

Of course bull riding is one of the major attractions.

The float, below, for those who do not know… the name ‘Fiesta’ is a chain of supermarkets with Latin products, but very few Brazilian products, unfortunately. But I have found ‘Guarana’ and Yoki products. Only.

Afterwards there is a 5 mile marathon and the World Championship Barbecue (217,640 people participated in ’09) and the Race of Pigs (so cute!) Say, I believe that they are extremely intelligent.

And of course the big shows… This is the beloved Sheryl Crow.

The city encourages the use of public transportation, because every year this event brings an average of 2 million people into Houston and has had 122 thousand volunteers.

Ahh … I almost forgot, there is also an auction and the International Wine Competition.
