Crisis

PELICAN BANDING

While Texans put their heads together, meet to fight against all that oil (the explosion last week), so it does not reach our waters, I ask that you pray, pray, light your candles, grab your rosaries, burn some incense, make your requests for marine life that surrounds us.

And for our waters.

It seems that we never value it, until the well is dry.

And men can control this tragedy… which they say could be worse than the EXXON VALDEZ.

May we be able to save not only marine life, but also these wonderful creatures flying around us… and not be greedy in any way.

The sea is dying and civilization is the culprit, messing with our planet, from the ocean floor up to the stratosphere.

How sad.

This is a beautiful planet. It is not a delicate or fragile planet. It has endured all kinds of volcanoes and cataclysmic catastrophes… But, man has proven himself, with his intelligence that he can destroy MORE life, than nature itself.

God made life simple, and the earth will never be in harmony with all this ambition.

I count on you. Read below:

Blessed Element

And today, one of my BIGGEST helpers .

It’s cheap, very cheap…

Here in Texas, less than $1 for nearly half a kilo.

Product that was chosen to clean the Statue of Liberty in the past.

And I’m serious. I sware.

You know why it was chosen for such an important job?

Because it’s a good friend of the environment!

bakingsoda

I’m talking about Baking Soda.

On the statue’s centennial (1984-1986) she needed a bath. Study and research was very necessary. Find something to clean the metal, but do not damage the structure.

Look at the difference before and after (inside):

Now, look at everything else that I cleanI without much effort or with almost no effort, with the help of Baking Soda:

1 -At night, put it in the toilet and it works while I sleep. The next day, in 1 second of srubbing with the brush, it is bright and white.

2 – The white counters in my kitchen, I leave a few minutes and then also in moments it is super clean! As if I had used bleach, chlorine or as they say in southern Brazil: QBOA.

3 – Throw it in the washing machine (without measure, depending on the amount of clothes) to brighten white or dingy clothes. If you let it soak, better yet. just white clothes!

4 – Clean the tip of the electric can opener, with a brush soaked in sodium bicarbonate.

5 – When I had carpet, I sprinkled sodium bicarbonate, leaving it a few minutes and then vacuuming up the powder. It cleans and removes the odor of any rug or carpet. Good for accidents with pets.

6 – Grates of the grill.

7 – Stained tea cups and the glass coffee pot.

8  - Walls. But the walls have to be white, otherwise it will take off a little color.

9 – Parts from the top of my stove. Also let it soak overnight. The next day it cleans up real quick!

10 -In a small saucer, put the ‘miracle product’ put in the refrigerator. Any kind of smell disappears.

11 – Cookware burned? No problem, leave them to soak.

12 – Inside the vacuum cleaner to take away the smell.

13 – Under the sink to repel cockroaches and ants.

14 – To thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables.

15 – Once a week to clear drains (plumber’s advice)

You can sprinkle it under your arms as a deodorant talc, put it inside your tennis shoes, throw it in the cat’s litter box, use for insect bites, sun burn, strong smell on the hands, baby’s rash… Anyway… I think the I could write about 3 posts on the subject.

P.S.- And don’t forget to become a Fan of this blog on Facebook.com and Orkut.com, and suggest the same to ALL your friends. Thanks, thanks and thanks! :-)

Saco de Mamangua’

Living in Saco de Mamangua’ is beautiful. I’ll tell you about that down below.

For now, stick around in our ‘new round beach’ that’s almost in my backyard.

I was there at the end of the day.

100_1309

Where we only saw happy people letting go of their stress.

The blessings of living in an estuary.

100_1301

Which in our case, is the Trinity River, the San Jacinto River and the Atlantic.

100_1312

600 sq. miles, it is the second most ‘productive’ bay of the nation (second to the Chesapeake Bay)

Wonderful. At the end of a day’s work, to do this.

But fishing…? It is not my favorite sport.

100_1304

Did you see what I saw?

They are beginning to build the new pier!

Doing this should be an adventure, a challenge. The elements of are a bit unpredictable.

100_1303

Much effort will be necessary.

100_1302

Besides the mandatory security and assistance.

100_1308

This is very mysterious work to me. I just know chopsticks together are unbreakable.

Either will we stay together or be separated. :-)

I would like to understand how they make a pier. I’ll probably come back here during the day and I ask my questions. I know myself.

Think of it, to have a pier and not have a place to live?

Either have a pier and a house and appreciate BOTH of the two, doesn’t that divide you? You want to stay home, but you also want to stay at the pier…

100_1306

Did you see the moon? It is impossible not to see it.

Why then, not build a house on top of a pier?

Madness? Nao. Everyone has personality.

Here it’s the Saco that I promised.
A place called Saco Mamangua’ near Parati in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil.

Where this couple of artists brought together two things they love, besides the fact they like being together, and built this house on top of a pier.

And it is not just any home.

Pier houseBR2

It is an artists thing… which are nothing more nor less, than children who refused to put the crayons away. :-)

I LOVE IT! A house of ‘natural’ people. My people.

In this case, I would also like to be a crayon, but white. So no one I would use me.

This house makes you want to eat fish and fish stew. And go fishing. ;-)

Lightness

Here in America, the tradition is…

Every spring, we do a big and deep cleaning of our possessions.

For me, a Brazilian, spring means, My God!

Soon summer is here, and I’ll be more exposed than ever!

In other words, I have to go to gym and not to the closets!

But I changed after reading the book: The Art and Science of Keeping House.”

In the book, the author (Cheryl Mendelson) explains that ‘spring cleaning’, does not mean only “a SUPER cleaning of the house.”

Nothing like that.

It means cleaning your life too.

It means: going through closets, drawers and closets, organizing everything, cleaning, dusting, donating, getting rid of things…

Giving a good shaking of ‘things’ that I’ve carried around.

I got lighter! :-)

At first, I thought, “Oh my God, I could spend months and months doing cleaning and organizing. How horrible!  What a waste of time!

But I decided to try a more swift and effective way to do this annoying task…

I decided to use some mornings and quickly go through the house, the closets, cupboards, looking at my belongings and getting rid of the unnecessary.

In the end, I was able to enjoy it a little, thanks to the help from my dear Roombas.

So I did a sort of ‘reassessment’ in my life. Reviewing paperwork, finding items that I had bought on impulse and so on.

Things of this sort. I know you understand me…

Depending on the year before, I felt very good about myself every time I opened a space organized my closet and looked up and down.

Also, know that?

It was a super workout!

I highly recommend it.

Just do it. You will feel great about yourself. The rest of the year.

Isn’t this great?
