Here in America, the tradition is…

Every spring, we do a big and deep cleaning of our possessions.

For me, a Brazilian, spring means, My God!

Soon summer is here, and I’ll be more exposed than ever!

In other words, I have to go to gym and not to the closets!

But I changed after reading the book: The Art and Science of Keeping House.”

In the book, the author (Cheryl Mendelson) explains that ‘spring cleaning’, does not mean only “a SUPER cleaning of the house.”

Nothing like that.

It means cleaning your life too.

It means: going through closets, drawers and closets, organizing everything, cleaning, dusting, donating, getting rid of things…

Giving a good shaking of ‘things’ that I’ve carried around.

I got lighter! :-)

At first, I thought, “Oh my God, I could spend months and months doing cleaning and organizing. How horrible!  What a waste of time!

But I decided to try a more swift and effective way to do this annoying task…

I decided to use some mornings and quickly go through the house, the closets, cupboards, looking at my belongings and getting rid of the unnecessary.

In the end, I was able to enjoy it a little, thanks to the help from my dear Roombas.

So I did a sort of ‘reassessment’ in my life. Reviewing paperwork, finding items that I had bought on impulse and so on.

Things of this sort. I know you understand me…

Depending on the year before, I felt very good about myself every time I opened a space organized my closet and looked up and down.

Also, know that?

It was a super workout!

I highly recommend it.

Just do it. You will feel great about yourself. The rest of the year.

Isn’t this great?
