Knock, knock, knock…

From watching the video below it’s easy to see that doors open through the online social media, blogs, and social networking in general. It’s very impressive, how attuned the young are.

The older… not so much.

I find it fascinating, but at the same time a little scary.

If you do not believe in the power of Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, blogs and all the other social sites, I think you’ll change your mind after watching the video below, or at least read my short summary:

- The social media, is the greatest revolution since the Industrial Revolution. 96% of people have joined social networks (Facebook, Orkut, etc. ..).

- Social media is more active than pornography.  (Thank God!)

- Radio took 38 years to reach an audience of 50 million, TV 13 years, the Internet four years, Facebook reached 100 million in 9 months!

- Every day, there are 1.5 million ‘events’ on Facebook.

- Some celebrities have more followers on Twitter than the entire population of Panama, Ireland and Norway.

- People update Facebook and Twitter everywhere by phone. Now imagine the consequences if you were treated poorly at some shops.

- If Facebook were a country it would be the fourth country in the world. And that has been last year, it’s probably second by now.

- There are 200 million blogs online. 34% of them give their opinions of products.

- 78% of consumers rely on recommendations, but only 14% in commercials on TV.

- The news follows us, through the social sites, we no longer need to go after them.

- YouTube is the number 2 place where people search, next to Google.

- The Wikipidea has 13 million items, 78% are not in English. It surpassed the Encyclopedia Britannica as more accurate.

Social media, is no mistake folks, and the primary way people communicate now… But I still read the newspaper in my town. Once a week.
