Let’s talk about something, considered the most tangible of all mysteries: FIRE!

Remember, when man invented fire, he didn’t think: “Ok, let’s cook…”

He had no idea of how things got much more tasty grilled …

Sorry, but I think even he thought: “Wow, now we can see others naked in the dark :-)

No, it’s serious, very, very serious.

You travel on business, or to rest…

But who could guarantee that your hotel room neighbor is not an inconsequential, careless crazy person that might set the building on fire?

That doesn’t mean you have to be paranoid… But fire does not take vacations nor has holidays…

So that no one awakes from a ‘beautiful dream’ to a smoke filled room, in a hotel, motel, house or apartment…

It is necessary to know that:

- If you go to a hotel, the first thing you should do is: count how many doors are between you and the EXIT.

- Make sure that the exit is UNLOCKED. If it is not go back to the reception and talk with the manager.

- Keep your room key near you all the time, and take it with you if there is fire or smoke. This is proof that you were at the hotel.

- Stay only in hotels that have fire alarms and an  automatic sprinkler system.

- In case of a fire, leave immediately (which is obvious)… But as you leave close all doors behind you.

- Get low and walk below the smoke to the EXIT.

- If you can’t leave, (God forbid this ever happens !)… Turn off all fans and the air conditioner. Put wet towels around the doors.

- Call 911 and let them know where you are.

Wait at a window and signal waving a brightly colored cloth or a flashlight.

On average, every 12 hotels has an incident with fire annually. And they are usually caused by people cooking inside the rooms.

If this was useful to you, share it with others. Link my blog to your Orkut, Facebook… Your friends and I thank you. ;-)
