I’m Going to Have to Make Some Changes

Some details here on this blog…
For example, for those of you who do not follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Orkut or the Forum of my town… know that:
I PASSED ON THE AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP EXAM ! :-)
Now, I’m not only part of those who have dual citizenship in the realm of disease and in the realm of health.

On this July 4th, I’ll have one more reason to celebrate American Independence, because…
As of yesterday, my patriotic heart beats: half red, white and blue and half green, blue and yellow.

Brasilian american

Yes! I don’t lose my Brazilian citizenship.

But know that, actually, I’ve always felt that the a person’s country, is not a piece of land here or there, much less is it where there are mountains, rivers, deserts or whatever geography it may present. It is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.

And I am and always will be: very proud of my Brazilian heritage.

And it was very difficult to study to be U.S. a citizen during a World Cup.  ;-)

But, as I said before: where there is freedom, that’s where my country is.

Now that I know, the amount of blood that was shed for the Bill of Rights, (Citizens’ Rights)… being American means to me, being safe.

My favorite thing about the United States?

Many Americans in America ! :-)

And thank you to those who wished me, “Never wake up from the American Dream”!

As my sister said, “half Brazilian, is better than nothing.”

Extraordinary

What have you done all your life with burn out lightbulbs?

Curse and throw it in the trash like me…?

Well the Proverd that says: ” It’s better to light a lamp than curse the darkness, it’s fully described in the photos below:

A brilhant idea.

Those who have the ‘light’ of creativity share it. ;-)

Do the same with this beautiful idea of recycling.

God Forgot

God in his wisdom created flies, fleas, cockroaches and mosquitoes, but forgot to tell me:

Why….?!

Then he gave me this wonderful creature of four legs, allergic to fleas!

Toby happydog1

To recap the story then:

We’re supposedly made to love two legged creatures…

The 4 legged ones are very important and useful to the two legged ones…

But the six legged ones and up… JEEZ! :-(

It is a bit too much in my way of thinking.

Here in Texas, many of these little monsters seem to be the symbol of some places.

Mosquitoes for example, love my city, and I think that’s because we have lots of green and lots of water … And as the wildlife is also abundant, we have those damn fleas.

Houses in general (as in any part of the world), can easily be buildings erected for the habitation of man, rats, cockroaches and germs… ALL THIS, IF YOU DO NOT FIGHT THEM!

And the struggle is fierce, requiring lots of loyalty and dedication.

This is what I learned in this WAR:

To beat Texas fleas you have to pay a handful of U.S. dollars using “comfort” (kill any flea that touches the body of the animal), or “Sentinel” (kills the eggs and prevents against heartworm). This is what we use for both dogs. It’s no use to use one and not use the others.

In the backyard, what finally worked for us, was “Ortho’s Home Defense Indoor and Outdoor.”

You can easily find it at the Lowe’s, Home Depot or WalMart.

Ortho Home D

Also we changed the entire carpeted floor (perfect depositary of insect eggs), substituting it for wood. after having been defeated in battles.

But we won the war! :-)

If you want to try using a natural alternative, they say a cup of Pine Sol + 1 cup of vinegar, spraying twice a month works on grass. I repeat: faithfully twice a month.

Use salt mixed with vinegar in your pets’ beds and also on the floor.

It will smell like a salad for a few minutes, but it’s no big deal.

Use Head and Shoulders shampoo on the dogs and also spray the animal with a vinegar mixture (half water). Be careful for the animal’s face!

Cockroaches really put my “…All Creatures Great and Small…’”creed to the test.  I hate them. Urghhs.

The only thing you can do against them is keep the house clean, especially the kitchen. They will come to get any crumbs at night. And seal all cracks possible.

Ahh… It will also help to have one or more Jack Russell Terriers. They have to chase everything that moves. ;-)

Stress

I was walking on the beach, fooling the academy. ;-)

After a frustrating match, it was easier to unwind like this …

Sometimes, that niggling headache is just in your head.

And the right time to relax, is when you do not have time for it.

Doesn’t it seem like there are days when life seems like foreign language, and everyone pronounces it wrong?

Urghhhs…

I saw a solitary one-legged gull, contemplating the meaning of life.

Seagulloneleg

Is it all so very urgent, as your stress tries tell you?

Paradisebeach5

The thing about it is: our life itself, is very simple, but it also and not easy….

Paradisebeachjelly

I found these other creatures SUPER interesting …

Sometimes our days are not fair and you come across weird things.

But three little words sum it up: life goes on.

passaro branco solitario

Despite the ‘cost’ of life, it is still popular. ;-)

It’s a kind of mixed blessing, that we’re trying to unmix… and get stressed out, for nothing.

But you’ve thought that God puts life into dead things and in living things does not spill anything…?

Gulf, gulf, gulf … :-(

May you not receive any major storm, while it is full of oil.

“Do not anticipate problems or concerns about what may never happen. Stay under the sunshine.” (Benjamin Franklin)

I love Benjamin! Did you know that because of him we have libraries in which we pay nothing at all?
