And If By Chance…?
Since our county, is the country’s leader in accidents involving drunk drivers…
This post is vital…
These are suggestions from Walter Irvine, race car driving instructor.
How to survive with such irresponsible people loose out there. (Emphasis mine)
→ And if a car comes straight toward you in your lane…?
• Honk! Switch on and off your lights! But at the same time, plan an escape. Do not fix your eyes on the car coming toward you, your car will follow where you’re looking. Look where you want to go, not where you were going.
→ A car is zigzaging in front of you…?
• Give him space, and once again, do not fix your eyes on this vehicle.
→ And if a deer jumps in front of you?
• Calmly try to avoid it, using as little brakes and steering as possible.
→ And you come to a four-way stop?
• Always try to establish eye contact with drivers waiting to proceed. If you see them looking at you you know it’s safe.
→ And if you are blinded by the sun in your face?
• Don’t slam on the brakes or swerve. Continue on your path so you are predictable to other cars.
→ You get a yellow light as soon as you approach the intersection, what is the best thing to do?
• You should never attempt to go through a yellow light, if you are able to stop safely.
→ And if you’re about to be rear-ended?
• Take your foot off the brake! If the car behind you hits you, the impact will be lessened if your car can roll forward.
