I don’t watch TV. I don’t have the time…
If I have a few hours or I’m too tired to do anything else… we watch movies.
Yesterday, I turned on the device, and the first scene I saw was of this little boy kicking, crying, and throwing a tantrum, yelling at his parents saying that he was not happy with any of the gifts he received at Christmas.
And the whole thing was shown as a short funny video that emphasized the child’s personality.
So I was thinking, “how can parents teach children, that Christmas is not only about presents?”…
Because it seems that every year, it gets more and more difficult.
After all, with the help of the media, children think that they’re supposed to have everything…
And the more you give them, the more they want, and when they get more, they give no value to what they have.
Of course I’m no expert on the subject and I am mentioning this too late…
In a few hours it will be Christmas.
Even so, they must learn to control this consumerist appetite and to realize that there is life beyond having everything.
They also need to learn to think of others …
And what would I do if I had them around me?
I would go to the kitchen, with them, make some delicious food and take it to a place where there was someone in need.
I would also suggest to grandparents and parents they gift the kids with tickets to parks, zoos, museums, etc…
Memories last much longer than presents and memories unite families.
