Birthday Perks

Everyone gets the first and best slice of cake that day, but here in America, this is not the only perk you get on the day and month of your birthday.

Look what else I found:

VICTORIA’S SECRET – For those who use their credit card (“Angel” Card): a $10 coupon to use in the store or online with a coupon code.

AVEDA - participants of the “Birthday Club”: a product worth $25.

BASKIN-ROBBINS – You get a discount on the cake and get ice cream for free when you join the “Birthday Club”.

BENIHANA - subscribe to “Chef’s Table Newsletter” and you will receive an email with a $30 Gift Certificate for dinner (you have to use it on the month of your birthday).

EXPRESS - customers who have their credit card, get a $10 coupon to use on any purchase during the month.

IHOP- joining the “Pancake Revolution” you get to eat for free three times.

NEW YORK & COMPANY – If you have their credit card, you receive a 25% discount when buying in store or online.

OLD NAVY – gives you a $10 discount if you spend $50 (you have to use it within 2 weeks).

STARBUCKS - having the “My Starbucks Reward” you get the drink of your choice or coffee (cappuccino)

PETCO – enrolling in the “Birthday Club” you get 10% discount during the month of adoption or birthday of your pet.

IF you know of any other birthday perks, add them here!

With some of these companies you must subscribe to their mailing list, and others not, and by the time your birthday arrives the rules may change (but not necessarily). If you like a certain brand, shop, restaurant or product that I have not listed, visit their website and see what they require to get your perk.

Flying Without Feathers

March, spring, wonderful spring break.

Time to enjoy “kites” in my town!

kite2

Beautiful, and happy flying kites against the wind… not with it.

kite3
And the trees?

Woah… These seem to have ‘special powers’ to attract them!

kite4And just look at the importance of small things …

kite5

They fly because of the tail.

kite6

And then, at this time, our imagination is being the kite flies higher still!

kite7 Open your wings girl! And let the fairy in you fly and fly!

kite8 Do not fear the competition, but don’t cut your neighbor’s string.

kiteladybugs

Face your troubles and get ready to assume your responsibilities.

And remember to go and climb AGAINST the wind, not with it.

Adversity is like a strong wind.

Grab a kite,
make it fly,
sit in a chair
and your blood pressure will go bye-bye.

Do you like my rhyme?  ;-)

“And fall seven times, get up eight.” (Japanese Proverb)

Recalling more from the Japanese: you know they glue broken objects by filling the cracks with gold? That’s because they believe that when something is damaged it has a history, is even more beautiful.

I love having a beach close to home!

Money Planning

Needing help with financial decisions and not knowing who to trust?

I found a site (cpf.net) in which you look for a ‘Certified Financial Planner’ (CFPs are the only individuals who meet the requirements to have this type of certificate).

The site maintains a database of all advisors who have been certified.

When you find some, talk with him by phone first and ask if he has worked with clients in the same situation as you and ask for references.

Then ask how much he charges.

Be smart. Counselors who do not charge for consultations may be getting paid based on the sales of financial products or services.

It is more likely that your ‘planner’ will give you unbiased information if he charges you a flat rate or fixed rate regardless of what he offers.

Green Joy

I have no green thumb, just good intentions.

snappeas1

As well as, MUCH to learn!

snappeas2

But one thing, as I know…

A good way to seek God, is by making some holes in the ground and planting some seeds.

snappeastoby

Of course despite all my good intentions, nature will take its course and improvise.

But for now, the anticipation this is giving me, is already a GREAT reward. :-)

I just hope to have a ‘LIVE’ garden I don’t have live in.

The plants will be in these works of art Mr.Slipper Man Socks made in a formerly useless corner on our property.

planters

Do not try to explain “miracles” it to anyone, plant something you will see the ‘evidence’ of God.
