Scary Night

I have spoken about dogs in Halloween, bullets and more fattening sweets…

But what about the safety of children dressed in the dark out there?

What about that?

♥ Follow your young children ALWAYS!

• Another thing: there is safety in numbers. If they are old enough to “trick-or-treat” without adults, tell them to stay in groups.
• Draw a route before hand. If they are big kids, make sure that they stick to this route.
• They should avoid cutting corners in alleys and parking lots and stay where there are lots of people.
• Try to “trick-or-treat” at the homes of friends and acquaintances. Ensure that your children will only go to houses with lights on.
• Stand back and make sure your children do not go inside anyone’s house. They can take candy on the porch.
• Dress them in a bright costume so others can see them. If the costume is dark, make sure they have something with reflective light or a lantern lit.
• Check that costumes are not too long to avoid tripping.
• Instead of masks, use makeup so they can see better. Nothing to cover their faces.
• Check the candy before they eat them. Throw away any that are not in original packaging or appear tampered with.
• Tell them never to accept rides or go anywhere with a stranger.
• Encourage them to follow all the rules of the road while walking in the streets. This includes looking both ways before crossing and use the buttons on the signal poles to cross the street.

Some days ago a boy here in Houston was hurt while going to school. The rear-view mirror of a car hit him in the back.

His mother had to pay a fine of $80 because the boy was walking in the direction of traffic and not as he should have: in the opposite direction of traffic, so as to be able to see cars and react.

Message from the Dentist

“Do your best this Halloween to avoid that ‘binge’ of bullets that stick to the teeth, the candied…

Chocolate is much better, because it melts quickly and easily washed out.

Remember the kids: a little bit of candies and sweets it’s all right, more than a little means a tummy ache. ”

The worst and most fattening candy:

1 – Peanut M & M (the most fattening of all)

2 – Raisinets (chocolate-covered raisins)

3 – Skittles

4 – Whoppers

5 – Milky Way

Peace at Halloween

Dress your pet or not at  Halloween is not the issue, despite the great debate on the subject.

What is really needed is to keep them safe in this ‘very scary’celebration . ”

If your dog lives outside, make sure that he is safe from the ‘spooky’ night’s events …

If he lives inside, be sure that the opening and closing of the door doesn’t make a perfect opportunity to escape.

If he is well trained and has a collar with an ID tag, he’ll love to walk and socialize with ‘trick or treaters’!

Do not forget that chocolate is dangerous for dogs. Keep candies and sweets far away from their mouths.

Have a Spooktacular Halloween!

The best thing in this celebration, is the end of the day … when everyone has returned home safe and sound, and you can make that last ‘howl’ in peace.

Extraordinarily Easy

I know at this time, the tree that you have been thinking about it’s called: A Christmas Tree…
But when it is only a memory, I have a proposal: to reforest your home with ornamental trees that are super easy to care for! ♥

And they grow from clippings.

Yes from a twig!!

The FIG Tree ↓ ↓ ↓

And the beautiful smelling GARDENIA ↓ ↓ ↓ (scenting the house!)

I think both provide visual boldness to the environment.

And they are the size of trees, but at the same time proportional to the pot that you put them in.

I read that they like low humidity, that’s why they do well here (where we have air conditioning on 8 to 9 months out of the year).

I like the ruffled and wrinkled leaves and the structure of these trees… and Mr.Slipper Socks Man and I are both crazy about  the scent of gardenias! ♥ ♥ ♥

It’s the little things we do, that makes a difference… My ‘little thing’ is to plant trees. ;-)
