Our Face Value

I am sure of one thing: a smile speaks the same language all over the whole world…

And until today I have never seen a smiling face that was not beautiful, but…

I still love the idea of these packets that cleanse the mouth, freshen breath and whiten teeth! ♥

The dentist who invented it says they also prevent stains.

I think it’s super convenient to always have them on hand  in my purse.

Especially if you’re like me and love very strong coffee, chocolate, grape juice, pasta with plenty of tomato sauce…

All these delicacies stain teeth… (my dentist told me)

I know it is expensive to pay $ 20 to $ 32 for these envelopes. (At QVC.com, you can buy 24 units for $16 ).

“All toothpastes and whiteners contain effective ‘hydrogen peroxide’, the best teeth whitener.” (via: Dr.Irwin Smigel DDS, New York, creator of “SUPERSMILE”)

If you think it’s too expensive you can do the following to get similar results:

Put a little baking soda  and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide on your toothbrush!

But ask your dentist first, because if you have gum problems it may not be the best thing and he may advise against it.

I know that those who have gingivitis can do teeth whitening before treating the problem. (Words of my dentist and periodontalist here in Houston).

Either way smile! Your teeth need sunlight and smiles increase our face value.

Homemade

Or “MADE IN AMERICA.”

I don’t like dirty dogs and the less toxic stuff on their skin better.

At my vet’s office, I found this recipe for excellent homemade shampoo for dogs:

JUST MIX:

♥ 1/4 cup aloe aloe vera gel

♥ 2 cups of chamomile tea

♥ 1/4 cup glycerin (I found it at Fiesta supermarket)

♥ 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil (at any health food store)

♥ 1/2 cup white vinegar

♥ 6 drops of lavender oil

♥ 1/2 cup “Seventh Generation” dish soap (at Target or Kroger and is derived from plants, is non-toxic, hypoallergenic)

♥ A big empty shampoo bottle or whatever you have.

Mix together and leave at room temperature.

Glycerin is also found in arts and crafts stores and first aid section at WalMart or pharmacies.

Always shake before using. For my small dogs I’m using 1/4 cup.

Fell free to bury your nose in her coat. I promise smells delightful!

Never Enough

I always dreamed about growing up and doing anything I liked.

One dream was staying up all night, and the other was eating ice cream straight from the package as much as …

Staying up all night I did… eating that much ice cream never! I was always thinking about the extra calories.

Buuut, making ice cream at home, and replacing full of fat cream with TOFU permits a “food orgy” without the weight on one’s conscience!

Yesterday I made peach ice cream and Mr. Slipper Socks Man loved it!

He said that this recipe was a winner and seemed to never have enough.

It’s very simple because I don’t do anything complicated.

PEACH ICE CREAM. (with nutriotional twist)

♥ 1 can sweetened condensed milk

♥ 1 can of evaporated milk

♥ 1 large 822 gr. can of peaches (Without the sugary syrup)

♥ 3 tb vanilla

♥ a few drops of imitation rum

2 boxes of tofu (brand Silken Extra Firm MORI-NU 349 gr each)

I beat everything in the blender leaving the peaches for last. READY!

Just freeze.

The peaches I used was the one with the least sugary syrup and I poured off all the syrup.

This recipe I got from here: http://www.texaspeaches.com/recipes.html, substituting whipping cream with tofu, leaving out the sugar and not adding the lemon (I’m allergic)

Cream Comfort

Much better than ice cream…

You know exactly what you’re eating and it is just as good, if not better than ice cream!

Besides SUUUPER healthy. ♥ ♥ ♥

Also easier to make than coffee! :-)

Put plain nonfat yogurt in a strainer lined with cheesecloth. Put the strainer over a bowl and put it in the refrigerator and chill overnight.

That’s it. Nothing more. Just enjoy your greek yogurt!

It has been my dinner for several weeks … Some nights with strawberries, other nights with cherries, sometimes cashews, sometimes brazilian nuts, always a grated coconut (unsweetened) and a little grated chocolate, stevia…

It is so consistent, it holds a soup spoon up straight! And it’s as good as whipped cream, but … fat-free!

The flavor reminds me of the famous gaucho pie “Martha Rocha,” exactly the same taste, but without “sin”. It’s like eating only the frosting.

The cheesecloth is found in any grocery store with kitchen items.

Do not put it on the metal strainer, it will rust. Fix the cheesecloth over a bowl, with a ribbon, elastic, or use a plastic colander.
